Can I give this piece of fiction a fair go? Can I get past the fact that a sequel is never as good as the original? Can I judge it on merit as a stand-alone book? Can I remember to get hemorrhoid cream and toilet paper tomorrow?

review: ’The Slob’ by Aron Beauregard Book review: ’The Slob’ by Aron Beauregard

I think the ending worked really well and followed how the reader sees the events played out. Beauregard does a great job of showcasing the hurt that was created with Geraldine’s actions as well as how this directly impacted the various characters in the novel. Always bleak, explicitly graphic and extreme in content, this story can be considered a masterpiece in this genre and can be enjoyed by all fans and followers of this particular brand of horror story. Pure genius!Don't usually Reread a book so close from reading it the first time. Read it in January this year but I just got book two. I felt itchy just by reading this book. I could smell the putrid whiff of filth and odor, it made me scratch my skin and unconsciously reach for a sanitizer just to lessen my discomfort. Totally gross. But what if someone wasn't there just to celebrate and have fun? What if the extravagant isolated destination was chosen for a more nefarious reason than assumed? What if someone at the ceremony held a dark secret? One that would see those in attendance slaughtered and humiliated in ways so nightmarish, they're beyond imagination. What if most everyone at the celebration had unknowingly attended a Wedding Day Massacre?

I’ve tried my best to be as spoiler free as I can, because I don’t want a single thing spoiled for someone reading it for the first time WARNING: If you have not read THE SLOB, this review will reveal a lot about how that story ended. Please read it first, to allow yourself the full macabre journey it takes you on, before you read any further. Throughout the story, this messy house with all the trash and dirt, will create an atmosphere so heavy it will become like another character to most readers. The picture you create in your mind will probably disgust you way before you get to the really disgusting stuff that happens as the story progresses. The children will surprise you as your going on this vile and twisted adventure right along with them. The choices they will have to make, the choices some of them do make, and the consequences of thier actions. The familiarity of their childhood is captured really well. The soft hearted, the hard hearted, the shy and meek, the conformed and the broken. I loved them all and was routing for them no matter their character, after all they are just kids. The narrator hired for the novel was honestly the highlight. Likewise the children in the book are written pretty accurately to their ages. I think those two things are about all the positive things I can say about it though. The thing about Playground though that I appreciate about it is the way it doesn't shy away from abuse. That's what this book is about. Abuse. Objectively that is what this is about. I finally did it. I finally found something that made me want to cry and puke at the same time. This book is extremely brutal and there are so many trigger warnings. Also, don’t eat while reading it. It won’t end well. SOME STAINS DON'T COME OUT...
